A 16 page short story exploring a woman's internal, and somewhat supernatural, battle with her mother's dementia diagnosis. 

This is a short story written for a fiction writing class I am currently finishing. The assignment's instructions were broad, asking for creativity from students to choose their own topics (as long they related to fiction writing).

I began by brainstorming a character and beginning scene, and eventually I ended up with a woman named Rita and a thrilling journey of her leaving her mother's place and traveling back home up north.
